Currently I got nice, but very simple tools to build the tracks. The tools are in fact plugins inside 3dsMax. Tracks are composed of small parts assembled one after the others. Each part is 10 meter long. So for a 15Km track, I have to add 1500 pieces. I can obviously not add them manually.

So some useful macro/functions has been created. I can add straight lines, turns, loopings, helix. Some parameters allow me to smooth a bit the created pieces, but not much. So to have some nice variations, I have to create them by hand. Which is very long.

In the last days, I worked on soe new functions. 3dsMax has nice spline managments, so I was really willing to use them.

Here is a simple test with a spline and a « loft »  effect. This has been done very quickly and show that there is a good idea behind this.

So I had created a function that add to a track piece others pieces, following a spline. Result is very nice. Here are some pictures.
